I'll date handicapped people!

I didn't see a stamp like this, so I made one. Okay, here comes a rant.

Note, not all people are like this and if you are, I'm not attacking you if you tell me your opinion.

---

I absolutely HATE it when people ditch someone or avoid going out with them because they're in a wheelchair and can't use their legs. I find it rather stupid. Oh, what's that? They can't get up to do stuff? SO? If they're cute and/or have a good heart, why is THAT stopping you? I fail to see any logical reason that would be an excuse not to date anyone who's in a wheelchair. Worse yet, dumping someone when they get paralyzed. You realize that could happen to you some day, right? Plus, when your bf/gf/etc gets paralyzed, they're in a very sensitive state of mind. Don't LEAVE them for something like that. What about their feelings? If you dump them for that, you aren't very loyal... Handicapped people are NOT unworthy for being with someone! They're just as capable as anyone else.

Here's an example scenario. I'll use a videogame character for an example. Let's use Simon from Cry of Fear afraidofmonsters.wikia.com/wik…. He's young, and cares if someone is on the ground hurt. He goes to see this person on the ground asking if they're okay when a car screeches towards him. He turns around just in time for the car to hit him. He's pinned from the hips down by the car. He ends up paralyzed from the hips down. That's not SO bad! He can use his arms! Anyways, why would you ditch someone just because they can't use their legs? Plus, what if they learned to walk again? Your LOSS! HA! Honestly, paralyzed people shouldn't be picked on or avoided in the dating world. They know what it's like to be alone, which is unfortunate. They know what it's like to feel helpless or impaired. They understand those feelings better than you probably do. They want love just as much as anyone else does--- if not more. If anything, we should look up to them. Not PITY them. They've learned something that can only be learned from experiencing it for yourself.

I saw this episode of some show. I don't remember what the name of the show was, but this chick was online dating some guy. He came to her in person finally and she pretended she wasn't her when she found out he was paralyzed. He had been in the military when he got a knee injury. She didn't know this--- she simply knew that he was in a wheelchair. He was in uniform still. Well, she's stupid. If a person in the military is permanently handicapped while on duty, when they come back, they won't be in military uniform. They'll be in a hospital gown of some sort. Her loss!

Anyways, if you're having trouble picturing a traditional wedding with a handicapped person, let me help you. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z5b5W4… The whole kiss-the-bride thing is still possible. Any more excuses? Oh, and also... if you're having trouble imagining being with a handicapped person or find it scary, weird, or distasteful, then maybe you don't deserve an awesome being like them! That's all there is to it!

Long story short, if my fiancé were to become paralyzed, I would still stick with him. Besides, there's still stuff we can do with each other. ;)
